Ringing
the once in a year annual event has to be something special for the whole
family...kids and the seniors alike. The event has to be memorable with some
kid-centric celebrations after counting down past the midnight zero hours, of
course with fireworks. The events have
to enchant everyone including the adults and the kids. Participate in fun
activities, including counting down and catching hundreds of colorful balloons
as they drop from the ceiling. The family-friendly party will also have music
to keep the energy level upbeat, whether it is meant for a few family members
or close friends, it has to be fun-filled and unforgettable through the whole
year.
Here are a
few fun-filled spectacle plans for the New Year celebrations that are sure to
delight the kids and the grown-ups alike:
Resolutions Guessing Game:
Circulate
slip of papers to all your guests and let each one put down resolutions….err
honestly. Drop the slips in the basket, pull out one slip of paper at a time,
and read out aloud without identifying the person. Thereafter the guests would
write down who they think made each resolution. Finally, the person who guessed
the most correctly is rewarded. Just for jest, read out some wrong guesses, as
well! After all, it is fun-time.
Guessing Fake Resolutions:
Let
everyone tell the group 2 of their real resolutions and 1 fake resolution.
Others have to make a guess and identify the fake resolution.
New Year Eve Scramble
Jot
down a cluster of different words associated with the New Year on a piece of paper
and scramble the letters. The guest who
guesses the most words correctly wins a prize, obviously.
Right Word Guessing
Write
over 100 words on index cards like; cake, candle, gaze, chuckle, smile, laugh,
tease, wink, yummy, sweater, typewriter, or any common word that comes to your
mind.
Now
pile the cards and keep them in the middle of the room. Form 2 teams and make them sit opposite each
other. Set the time on a timer for one
minute. Let the player from Team One
pick a card from the stack and start giving clues to his/her teammates within
the stipulated 1 minute.
For
instance, if the word is ‘cake’, the team member might mime or ask; “What would
one do on one’s birthday”. Players from
Team One try to guess the word and if they are successful during the one minute
allotted time, they get a point. If they
are unable to guess the word and the timer runs out, the other team gets a
bonus point. Take turns until all cards
are tried out. At the end of the game, total the points to declare the winner.
Funny Picture Contest
Offer
prizes for the best face…oops funny face; use a digital camera to take the
pictures of your guests in funny moods. Once all the guests have obliged with
their pictures, download them to your lappy or PC. Arrange for a large screen monitor (this is
of course optional) and declare the winner on the greatest laughter. You may
even add consolation and runner-up prizes.
Celebrity Search
This
is a unique game as everyone writes the names of famous personality from
different fields on a piece of paper and stick on the forehead of the player
next to their left. Ensure they don’t
see the name stuck on their forehead! All other guest can see your forehead. By
going around the table, each player takes a turn to ask the person questions relating
to the name; as to who he/she is and other details associated with the
personality. The answer can be in
monosyllable – Yes or No only. The intention is to work out who you are. If you
get a ‘Yes’ you may continue to ask more questions, if you get a ‘No’ the play
moves to the left. The last person to guess their name is hailed as a loser!
Indoor Treasure Hunt
This
is a huge indoor treasure hunt game with appropriate clues. Everyone,
particularly the kids will enjoy by following the clues to get their treasure.
If it is becoming quite stuffy and warm inside, send them outside for parts of
it to hunt and locate.
Creating Time Capsule
Here
you are creating your own time capsule. Put away anything and everything,
including your resolutions that you wish to remember, in a container and then
hide it till next year.
Necklaces Made of
Yarn
During
the entire party, this game can be played by young and senior alike. The
players try to win as many yarn necklaces at they can. The players, who has the
most at the end wins a prize. Give each
player a necklace. The idea of the game
is to get the other players to say “No”.
Try to make your friends say “No”.
Word Game
Creating
the most words out of the letter ‘Happy New Year’ wins the game!
Guessing the objects in the jar
You
need a plastic or glass jar with a lid large enough to fill it with candies,
coins, tiny toy cars. Decorate the jar
and lid with festoons, stickers and a bow.
Place it at the entrance of the activity table. Provide slips of paper for guests to write
their names and their ‘guess’ also a small basket/box to collect the
entries. At the finish of the New Year
Party, award the jar of goodies to the child with the closest guess.
